Fulldome Planetarium Shows!

Saturn: Jewel of the Heavens©

Celebrating the fact that Saturn will be visible and spectacular all summer, we’re bringing this favorite show back to the Planetarium! It’s one of the most beautiful and magnificent planets in the solar system. And now, using sophisticated spacecraft, scientists have been able to reach out to the great ringed planet of Saturn, sailing by trillions of chunks of ice that make up its glorious rings. Thanks to new scientific findings, we can present Saturn — its moons, rings and exotic secrets — in the latest 3-D technology filling our entire planetarium dome (no 3-D glasses required)!

Showtimes: Daily: 1, 3 and 5 p.m.; plus 7 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays
Admission: $7 teens/adults • $5 children 12 and under, seniors 60 and over, and UNR faculty/staff/students with ID ~ and FREE for Planetarium members

DARK© and Back To the Moon for Good©

A fulldome planetarium show by iVEC@UWA

DARK explains and explores the nature of Dark Matter, the missing 80 percent of the mass of the Universe, where it came from, and how it has evolved over billions of years. PLUS! Back to the Moon for Good, a fulldome planetarium show by Clark Planetarium Productions, chronicles teams around the world competing for the largest incentivized prize in history, by landing a robotic spacecraft on the Moon for the first time in more than 40 years!

Showtimes: Daily: 2, 4 and 6 p.m.

Family Show: Secret of the Cardboard Rocket©

A fulldome planetarium show by Clark Planetarium Productions®

Climb aboard their virtual, magical cardboard rocket as young adventurers take an exciting up-close look at the solar system. For children in grades K-3 but fun for all ages.

Family Show: Attack of the Space Pirates©

A fulldome planetarium show by Clark Planetarium Productions®

With amazing sound effects by George Lucas' Skywalker Sound, the Starship Intrepid travels through hyperspace in this fun and exciting adventure, where you and its crew will put real science into science fiction and solve numerous challenges along the way. Find alien technology and defend against the space pirates! For children in grades 4-6 but fun for all ages.

Live SkyTonight Star Show

What’s happening in our night skies this month? Find out from staff and guest astronomers using our state-of-the-art planetarium equipment to view current astronomical objects and events in spectacular detail!

A fulldome music and light show by Starlight Productions®

The legendary rock masterpiece is presented in a stunning fulldome music and light show with amazing HD animation and mind-blowing surround sound! (Please note: mature lyrics/themes)

Showtimes: Fridays and Saturdays: 8 p.m.

Weekly Star Party at Redfield Campus!

MacLean Observatory at Redfield Campus

We hold free telescope viewing every Friday at the MacLean Observatory on the Redfield Campus, (see map), weather permitting (except July 4). Weather conditions that may cause cancellation include cloud cover, haze, precipitation, wind and cold temperatures. Call ahead for updates at (775) 784-4812.

Hours: Every Friday (weather permitting; no viewing July 4) June-September, 9-11 p.m. (This is an outdoor event with no indoor facilities available.)
Tickets: FREE for all
